History
Founded by Phyllis Frempong-Boadu in 1979
In 1979 Phyllis Frempong-Boadu, our founder, was a full-time registered nurse, wife and mother who knew the challenge of finding quality, affordable childcare in her community. With the obvious need and a true love for children, she started Phyl’s Academy with a clear goal – to nurture and educate every child that came through the doors. Phyllis absolutely loved what she was doing and the community loved her back.
From a humble start with an enrollment of 2 children, Phyl’s Academy has grown to serve hundreds of students annually through accredited Early Childhood, Elementary, Extended Day, Enrichment and Summer Camp programs.
In these more than 40 years, there has naturally been growth and transition, but the truly important things stay the same. Our goal remains to nurture and challenge every child who comes through our doors. We are still a community of educators who love what we do and dedicate each day to ensuring that Phyl’s Academy students are inspired, motivated and confident as they take their first steps towards becoming all they are meant to be.
Thank you for visiting Phyl’s Academy online to learn more about our progressive program. We look forward to welcoming you to our Phyl’s Village family.
